Ripon Rowel Players
Claire first tripped the boards in 1967 as one of a chorus of 'little maids' in a G&S production of the The Mikado for the Lytton Players in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Having got the bug, she then continued to be in the chorus performing in most of the G&S repertoire and many of the popular musicals. After joining the Hertfordshire Gilbert and Sullivan Society she stepped out of the chorus to take the part of Parthy in Showboat. In 1991 she moved up to Ripon and became a member of both the Ripon Rowel Players and Ripon Amateur Operatic Society. She began to enjoy the straight acting side of drama with the Rowel Players although continuing to do chorus work in the operatic society and a lot of back stage work mainly as property mistress. After 30 years in the business she decided to take the plunge and try her hand at producing. To date Claire has produced 2 one-act festival plays, one of which, Interior Design by Jimmie Chinn, won best production, best actor and best actress for the Nidderdale Drama Festival at Pateley Bridge in 2001. Also she has recently produced one full length play, Dangerous Obsession by NJ Crisp, for the Ripon Rowel Players and has co-produced 3 Autumn Concerts for the Ripon Amateur Operatic Society.
Claire was secretary for the Lytton Players for many years and is now secretary for Rowel Players.
